HUDSON YOUTH BALLET
Hudson Ballet Theatre's youth division, Hudson Youth Ballet (HYB) partners with City Center Dance to provide quality dance training to students in our community. HYB dancers are a part of HBT's fall and spring performances, dancing alongside the company and gaining valuable experience being a part of professional productions.
HYBmini students are generally 3-5 years of age and are not required to have any years of ballet training. These students typically have one smaller roll in each HBT show.
HYBjr students are generally 5-9 years of age and/or have 2 years or less of ballet training. Based on age and level, HYBjr students will have fewer roles and rehearsal calls per show than HYB2 students.
HYB2 students have more than 2 years of ballet experience and span the largest level range in the HYB program. HYB2 students may have started dancing en pointe but do not yet perform en point in HBT productions. Their roles and rehearsal hours are shorter than HYB1 students, but they still play a large part in the HBT productions.
HYB1 students are in the highest pre-professional levels and have at least 4 years of ballet experience. These dancers perform en pointe and take on similar roles as the professional HBT dancers. Their rehearsal hours and performance time will be longer than that of the other HYB levels. They are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and act as role models to the younger HYB students.
**For students enrolled in City Center Dance's Pre-Professional Division, please note that there are fewer HYB levels than Pre-Pro, so it is not uncommon for a student to progress in Pre-Pro level while remaining in the same HYB level.
